When Life Changes: Finding Support Through Grief, Loss and Transition
There are seasons in life when the familiar landscape begins to change.
Sometimes the change arrives suddenly.
- A bereavement.
- A relationship ending.
- A health challenge.
- A redundancy.
- A move.
- A diagnosis.
- A child leaving home.
- Retirement.
Sometimes the change unfolds more quietly. A growing sense that life is asking something different of us. A feeling that we have outgrown an old chapter. A longing for deeper meaning or connection.
Whatever form it takes, transition can feel unsettling. The ground beneath our feet shifts. What once felt certain may no longer feel secure. We may find ourselves questioning who we are, where we are going, and what comes next.
These experiences are part of being human. Yet that does not make them easy.
Grief Is Not Limited to Bereavement
When we hear the word grief, we often think of losing someone we love. Yet grief can arise whenever something meaningful changes.
We may grieve:
- A relationship
- A role
- A dream
- A stage of life
- Our health
- A sense of certainty
- A version of ourselves
Grief is often a reflection of love, attachment and significance. It reminds us that something mattered.
Rather than something to be fixed, grief is often something to be honoured. A process to be walked through with patience and compassion.
Finding Calm in Times of Change
When life feels uncertain, many people long for a sense of steadiness. A place to pause. A place to breathe. A place where they do not need to have all the answers.
This is often where spiritual and energy-based practices can be supportive. Not because they remove life’s challenges, but because they may provide opportunities for relaxation, reflection and reconnection.
A quiet space where you can simply be.
Different Paths, One Intention
At The Remedy Box, I offer several approaches to spiritual and energy work. Each person is unique, and there is no single path that suits everyone.
Some people are drawn to Reiki. Others resonate with Spiritual Healing. Some feel called towards Shamanic Healing and Energy Medicine. Others appreciate the creative and reflective approach of the Five Awakenings Sequence.
Although these approaches differ, they share a common intention: to create a supportive space where you can pause, reflect and reconnect with yourself.
Awakening the Inner Healer
One of the beliefs that underpins all of my work is that each of us carries an innate capacity for healing and growth. I sometimes refer to this as the Inner Healer.
The Inner Healer is not something outside of us. It is not a special gift possessed by only a few people. It is the part of us that seeks balance, meaning, wisdom and wholeness.
Throughout life, stress, grief, trauma, loss and life’s many challenges can sometimes make it difficult to hear this inner wisdom. We may feel disconnected from ourselves. We may lose confidence in our own knowing. We may forget our own strength.
The approaches offered at The Remedy Box are not intended to fix you. Rather, they are intended to create a supportive space where you can reconnect with the resources, resilience and wisdom that already exist within you.
Whether through Reiki, Spiritual Healing, Shamanic Healing, the Five Awakenings Sequence, meditation or reflection, the intention is always the same:
- To help you reconnect with yourself.
- To listen more deeply.
- To discover what is seeking healing, expression or understanding.
- To remember that healing is not something that comes from outside of you.
It is a relationship with the wisdom that already lives within.
A Journey of Learning
Over many years, I have been fortunate to explore different approaches to healing and spiritual wellbeing from around the world.
My journey has included learning from shamans in Peru and New Zealand, spiritual healers in Brazil, tutors at The Arthur Findlay College, and many teachers, practitioners and traditions along the way.
While each approach has its own language and practices, I have noticed a common thread running through them all.
- The importance of compassion.
- The importance of listening.
- The importance of connection.
- The understanding that healing is not simply about what happens to us, but about how we relate to ourselves, to others and to life’s experiences.
These learnings have helped shape the way I work today, bringing together different perspectives to create a gentle, personalised and heart-centred approach for each individual.
Reiki
Originating in Japan, Reiki is a gentle energy healing practice that many people find deeply relaxing. Sessions offer an opportunity to slow down, rest and reconnect with a sense of calm.
In our busy lives, we can easily become disconnected from ourselves. Reiki provides a space to simply pause, breathe and receive. Many people leave feeling more relaxed, centred and nurtured.
The Five Awakenings Sequence
The Five Awakenings Sequence combines colour, creativity, energy medicine and reflective exploration. Suitable for both adults and children, it can offer a gentle way to process experiences, explore emotions and gain insight through creative expression.
Sometimes healing begins not with words, but with colours, symbols and imagination. This approach creates space for those discoveries to emerge naturally.
Shamanic Healing & Energy Medicine
Across many indigenous traditions, healing is understood as a process of restoring balance and connection.
Shamanic Healing and Energy Medicine draw inspiration from these traditions and may incorporate tools such as drums, rattles, visualisation, journeying and symbolic healing practices.
Many people are drawn to this work when they feel disconnected, overwhelmed or in need of a deeper sense of grounding and meaning. These practices can encourage reflection, reconnection with nature and a renewed sense of belonging within the wider web of life.
Honouring What Has Come Into Being
One of the lessons I have learned through my own journey, and while writing Grief as a Sacred Path: The Heart’s Pilgrimage to the Divine, is that healing is not always about returning to who we were before.
Sometimes it is about becoming who we are now.
Life changes us. Loss changes us. Love changes us.
The question is often not:
“How do I get back to where I was?”
But:
“How do I move forward with compassion, wisdom and grace?”
This is where support can be helpful. Not because someone else has your answers, but because you do not have to walk the path alone.
A Gentle Invitation
If you are navigating grief, loss, uncertainty or a significant life transition, I offer a free initial Zoom consultation where we can explore what is bringing you here and discuss whether Reiki, Spiritual Healing, Shamanic Healing or the Five Awakenings Sequence may feel supportive for you.
You do not need to have everything figured out. Sometimes the first step is simply reaching out.
Reflection
What in your life is changing at this moment?
What might it need from you?
Nature Companion
Spend some time outdoors and notice the season around you. Nature is constantly changing, yet nothing is forced.
Reflect on what the natural world might be teaching you about transition.
Contemplation
What if this chapter is not the end of your story?
What if it is the beginning of a new one?
